Notes from April
Allergies aside, SPRING is beautiful!
The first month of the year felt slow for me, but then it seems that each month after it has been faster than the last. I love writing these little monthly newsletters as a way to slow down and reflect. Life is so busy and full. It’s good to remember.
I’ve been particularly enjoying Spring this year. I wonder if it’s because this winter was especially cold -don’t get me wrong, I loved getting as much snow as we did- and we stayed home quite a bit, but the weather has been so beautiful lately, and everything in bloom seems extra vibrant. Also my city has lots of places to spend time outside, so I think I’ve just been more ready to come out of “hibernation.” I’m really grateful to live in a place where there are four seasons, and embracing the rhythm and pace of each brings me a lot of joy.
Here’s some of what I was up to this month…
Sweet Memories from April:
Tuesday afternoon work sessions at the local coffee shop. Our neighborhood has a main street with a small coffee shop that was renovated in the last few years, and in the back there is a quiet corner with windows and a table large enough for two people. It’s becoming a little weekly rhythm for David and I to go there on Tuesday afternoons and work on our newsletters. It’s kinda my favorite thing.
Time with family. We traveled to two different states to visit family this month! South Carolina and Maryland. My heart is always full after these visits, and I’m glad we were able to make these happen.

Neighborhood walks… and picnics!

Taco Tuesday date night! We finally tried a new food truck that recently opened and wow. Honestly some of the best I’ve had. (Thanks, South of Brooklyn!)
And here are some things I’ve loved this month:
1. This snack combo! It is quite addicting. I also added some of this pickle salsa to my deviled eggs as an Easter appetizer. They were a hit.
2. This green chutney dish from Nik Sharma’s cookbook, Veg-Table. Also very addicting. I discovered this dish thanks to my friend Jay (see her working her cooking magic in this post!). I’ve made the green chutney sauce probably 3 times this month and I’ll just dip roasted baby potatoes in it. So good.
3. Azaleas blooming everywhere!

4. Bon Iver’s new album, on repeat. Anyone else? What’s your favorite track? Here’s mine:
5. And last, the evening light that streams into our little dining nook while we clean up dinner.
That’s all for now. I hope you have a lovely May, friends!
