March Journal
Happy Friday!
For some reason, my Spring allergies have been almost non-existent this year!
I mentioned it to my husband and he suggested that it could be because I’ve been outside so much more during the transitional weather, and I think he’s right! From going on way more walks outside than I have in the past, I think my body has acclimated to the pollen and seasonal shift. (I’m curious if there is legit science behind this, does anyone know?) Last year I spent so many afternoons on the couch from debilitating headaches, but I haven’t had a bad one yet. Whatever the reason, spring has been much more enjoyable this year and I’m so thankful!
March was a very fun and full month; I’ve loved watching everything bloom and become more colorful. I think Spring is quickly becoming my second favorite season.
Here are some highlights!

Enjoying lots of time outside
Spring weather is perfect because while it gets warm, the air still feels crisp. We’ve gone on lots of neighborhood walks, a park run (who is she?), a couple picnics, strolls through Reynolda Gardens, pickleball/volleyball games with friends, etc. etc.!
Photos, photos, photos!
They say, “love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life” and I am so thankful to say that so much of my work these days has been full with things I really enjoy doing! I’ve had all kinds of dreamy photo projects, from capturing a new home goods store, to a local boutique, a restaurant and various artist portraits! Taking photos as a job is such a blessing and I don’t take it for granted.
Attended a creative arts conference for the second year in a row.
This year I helped David film it a bit, but I also got to sit in on some of the sessions, and I just loved hearing from and spending time with so many other creatives! It’s always an inspiring time. My favorite part was getting to see JonVan Deusen and Jon Guerra live!
Saw a theatre show!
Our friend was in a local play about William Shakespeare and we enjoyed it so much! It’s hard to remember how long it’s been since we last did that. We decided we definitely need to visit the theatre more.
Reading:
I, Julian by Claire Gilbert
I knew this one was going to be good, but wow. I’d never read a fictional autobiography; it felt like such a cool twist on historical fiction, and was super engaging. I had heard of Julian of Norwich before, but never really knew much about her. This was such a beautiful and unique way to learn about her life and her faith.
“I, Julian, the account of a medieval woman who dares to tell her own story, battling grief, plague, the church and societal expectations to do so. Compelled by the powerful visions she had when close to death, Julian finds a way to live a life of freedom - as an anchoress, bricked up in a small room on the side of a church - and to write of what she has seen. The result, passed from hand to hand, is the first book to be written by a woman in English.”
Eating:
Skillet Salmon with Creamy Lemon Caper Dill Sauce
This recipe is a go-to for me, especially in the Springtime! It’s light but super filling, and healthy! There’s no butter it in, but the way the avocado oil and coconut milk come together make it so buttery-like and delicious! I love to serve this on top of some bowtie pasta and sprinkle it with a little parmesan too.
Wearing:
I wear linen all year round pretty much, but these pants are perfect for this transitional weather. I got them in black from a friend at a clothing swap, and they’re so versatile; I’ll dress them up with flats and a dressy top, or with my Birkenstocks and a t-shirt for running errands. An essential wardrobe piece, in my opinion!
That’s all I have for now, thank you for reading!
I hope your April is filled with sunshine, lots of flowers and fun.
